Since the release of his Stevie Nicks sampling anthem “The Terrace’ in 2003, Linus Loves has been instrumental in the re-emergence of electronic music as a major force. At a time when the media had decided ‘dance music is dead’ Linus and his partner, Mylo, launched their label Breastfed with an agenda of making exciting, electronic club music.
As the phenomenon of Mylo’s ‘Drop the Pressure’ ate clubland alive, Linus oversaw the marketing and promotion of the label’s first album, Mylo’s seminal, platinum selling “Destroy Rock&Roll”. At the same time Linus A&R’d and remixed the label’s other releases – Flatpack ‘Sweet Child of Mine’, Ran Shani “ Cool Like That’ and the monstrous ‘Big Time’ by Dada Life – as well as dropping the Soulwax favourite ‘Nightmusic’.
Once the Mylo campaign had ended, Linus found time to return to the studio and produced his critically acclaimed debut album ‘Stage Invader’ which featured the club favourites ‘The Terrace’ and ‘Nightmusic’ alongside downtempo gems such as ‘The Love’, ‘Waterfall’ and ‘Rock Chk’.
Despite the popularity of his own productions, Linus Loves is best known for his remixes with a string of productions that spread like wildfire across the blogs. Justin Timberlake ‘Sexy Back” and ‘My Love’, Kelis ‘Lil Star’ and the Gossip ‘Yr Mangled Heart’ are just some of the highlights in a list that includes Jamelia, Groove Armada, the Killers, Mika, Mylo and the Scissor Sisters.
2008 looks set to be an even bigger year for Linus. With dj sets that weave between fidgit grooves and French bangers and a new crop of remixes for Alphabeat, the Feeling and Mattafix receiving rave reviews, Linus looks set for a triumphant return with his second album later this year.
